Sleep, precious sleep, where art thou?

Checking in now... as God only knows when I 'll get the chance again. Taking two weeks off from RedFM so won't be behind a computer so much.
At this particular moment all I want is sleep! It's been an extremely hectic week. Sleep deprivation has featured highly! I wish there was such a thing as an on-line sleep bank where we could deposit sleep when we have had a few extra hours and then download it later when we really need it! I'll keep dreaming...
It didn't help that I had an attack of the sniffles this week but I battled on regardless and made it to an intimate fashion show at Lisboa on Maylor Street, Jennifer Lomasney's album launch in Cyprus Avenue, the opening party for the new Carlton Hotel in Kinsale and two art exhibitions. And I work a living too, you know! The art exhibition in the Fenton Gallery on Friday evening was rather interesting actually. The artist Goddfried Helnwein (not from these parts, you guessed correctly!) is a buddy of Marilyn Manson and even gave his Tipperary castle as the venue for Manson's wedding with Dita Von Teese last December. Hence there were whisperings from certain quarters that the shock rocker was to attend. Alas , it was not to be and the goths gathered outside ultimately went away disappointed. They probably weren't fans of Michael Flatley - who did show up with his stunning new fiancee Niamh O'Brien. Everyone was clamouring for a peek at her rock - the first time her sparkling engagement ring was seen in public.
Read all about it of course in Tuesday's Evening Echo.... and I'll be back on RedFM on Monday Oct 2nd - don't miss me too much!

A catch-up in colour...

A busy week has drawn to a close... and there's another one just around the corner... yipee!

Yesterday evening I was at the 21st celebrations of South Coast TV in the Clarion Hotel - it's great to see the company flourishing after many troubled years when it struggled to be allowed to have a voice in the market-place.

I found myself at the gorgeous, peaceful Ballinacurra House in Kinsale the evening before, where I met a number of people who had arrived for the Sharks Advertising Festival. The good weather meant it was possible to have a barbecue outdoors and there was live music from Annette Buckley who has a beautiful voice. Tackling songs like Kate Bush's 'Wuthering Heights' and Jeff Buckley's 'Hallelujah' is no easy task... but she did it with seemingly effortless grace.
Festival director John Holohan had a chat with me about it on my show this morning as well..

Meanwhile, here are a few photos from my travels last week - the official opening of the new Burke Landy mortgage store on Oliver Plunkett Street...

That's me on the right with Lorraine O'Riordan from Arasys Face and Body clinic which is also located on Oliver Plunkett St. I guess you could say Burke Landy are going for the triple, with stores in Cobh and Carrigaline already... so it was fitting that Cork Hurling star Diarmuid O'Sullivan be a guest at the launch just two days before the team also went for the triple in Croke Park. While the outcome of the match wasn't what we hoped, young Dale Buckley from Mallow didn't forsee that at the time and was proud to wear his red and white and get his kit signed by Diarmuid. They are pictured below along with Dale's dad, James Power...

And the Lord Mayor, Cllr. Michael Ahern was also getting in on the act... Maybe we should have had him lining out in the team last Sunday.... nah, maybe not!

Let's not forget Lucky Buggers - that competition returns toCork's RedFM on Monday... with thousands of euro to be won. Regular listeners might remember it from when we ran it before... Agent 104 is out there planting bugs around Cork city and county and listeners have to guess where the bugs are planted... be careful what you say as you are out n' about... we could be picking up your conversations with our sneaky listening devices... don't say you haven't been warned!!

A Quick Hello!

Haven't updated for a while... so a quick hello and a promise to write more again very soon!

My best news is that I became an Auntie again yesterday to the adorable Laura, who arrived into the world while I was on-air... so I couldn't resist announcing it to everyone, so happy was I!

It's been really busy lately in my social schedule... a wedding in Midleton, a Fashion and Beauty fest in Bantry, art exhibitions and so on. I hope to be provided with photos from a few sources so if/when I recieve them, I shall make the blog colourful once again!

All this week, my listeners are making me chuckle with the jokes they are sending in - it's not just out of the goodness of their hearts of course - there's a chance to win tickets to a special comedy night in the Half Moon Theatre later this month. So if you haven't made me laugh yet.. you still two more days in which to do so!

PS: Top tip of the week: Don't go walking in the rain while wearing Maybelline mascara... panda eyes will follow (as I learned to my dismay!)
